New Ash Green 45 - Park House 19

Park decided to play with a bright sun behind their backs in the first league game of the season. With a number of new faces in the pack and 5 backs out injured we knew it was always going to be a test against a beefy pack that NAG always possess.

Park started the game well with a lot of possession and field position. However,a missed tackle in open play let the NAG centre make a fifty yard break before putting in the wing (i think) for the first try of the game.

Park went straight up the other end and after clean ball from the forwards, the backs finished a nice wide move with Hugh going in under the posts.

With both teams already sweating buckets, a wayward kick by Park allowed the NAG full back to run 50 yards before a couple of phases, a NAG forward went in untouched from close range.

Park again reacted quickly with a chip through chased and crawled up to by Steve Coleman for our second try

14-14

Not sure of order of play next, but Park still had plenty of possession with some suprb power running by James and Tom allowing us to play on front foot. However, Park made a number of breaks through them by Goughy and Coleman, but the support was often lacking. NAG also ran through plenty of phases of their own and seemed that bit more cohesive than Park allowing them another score before half time.

Park started the second half strongly with Ashly charging over following a great maul off a lineout. Misse conversion, 21-19 Park them seemed to tire, as did NAG, but too many missed tackles and not enough quick ball let in NAG for too much easy running and phases.

Nag scored one more, then as Park chased the game, NAG were allowed in for a Dan luger style cross field penatly and an interception at the very deaf which was unlucky

Harrison was superb in his first game in front row, but tired understanably towards end, man of the match to No.6 James, who worked superbly in defence and attack and worked very well with Tom and Rob Gan, our back row looks very strong

Too many missed tackles, people switching off and individual errors let us down. Much of it can be put down to first game of season, but there is much to work on in terms of first up tackles and support play, which wasnt there

Lot of positives too though aswell, and whilst we didnt deserve to win, the score isnt a fair relfection of the game
