Park House off the back of 3 wins came up against Cranbrook a side that, although without a win so far this year, looked like hugely tough opposition as they had played some good sides and held them to relatively close results. Park House were left with a few questions could we survive without our fearless leader Nugget who was away gallivanting in Spain playing golf.
The day started with the loss of several of our subs having to call off that morning. We started with a minute's silence for the late great Paddy Solan with the thirds, thank you to all who came down to the club this week to remember the times Paddy had shared with the club.
This is where it all starts to get a little hazy, they kicked off straight out into touch. From this first scrum the PH front 5 started their dominance. Some good pressure from Cranbrook led to some good field position and a PH prop then pulled down the line and gave them a penalty to give them the first points of the game.
We then went and scored (I told you it gets hazy). There was some great play this half with Cranbrook desperately avoiding the scrum as they were getting destroyed.
I think we finished the half with the scored being 19-3 again don’t know who scored. Park House set ourselves the challenge:- let's finish a game like we have never done before.
For not one minute in the second half did we allow our concentration to slip and constantly badgered and attacked the opposition and scoring from our own excellent set pieces and also some mistakes we were forcing Cranbrook into. This is not to say that Cranbrook did not have their own offence which was dangerous at points but the PH total defence held out well.
On around 60 minutes Phil came out for his second ever PH performance to replace Glen and the skipper, Richard Russ, went off to protect his groin (from his dad by the look of the pics, below). The subs gave performances that only enhanced the team and within minutes gelled into the mind set of the rest of the players.
Park House finished the second half stronger and overall it was a great performance.
I believe PH managed to keep the pressure on for the full 80 minutes owing to the fact we had some tremendous support! Please keep coming back it makes a hell of a lot of difference.
Anyway we won 49-03 against stiff opposition which the score line made look a lot easier than they actually are and we know we are going to get an even tougher return match.
