Park House 49 – 7 Vigo

Park House eased to a convincing 49-7 home victory over Vigo at Barnet Wood Road on Saturday, scoring 9 tries and consolidating their position at the top of Kent 2.

Park started the game strongly and were rewarded a few minutes into the game with a try for winger Marc Harrison. Further pressure went unrewarded as Vigo were awarded a succession of penalties which helped them to clear their line and keep Park at bay.As the half progressed Park's domination increased, and the pressure told following several good moves as they ran in three further tries from full back Richard Russ, hooker Matt Willoughby and outside half Chris Metcalfe. Park finished the half with a deserved 20-0 lead.

Several chances were spurned though as Park's hands let them down at crucial times, and the half time message was that they needed to tighten up their play and allow their talented squad the chance to show their worth.

The second half as the first ended, with Park dominating both territory and possession. An early score for strong running centre Phil Parkes was followed by a period of sustained Park House pressure which saw them spurn several try chances as overlaps went begging. Eventually though the pressure told as Park's mobile forwards and incisive back combined for further tries by the impressive Metacalfe, Russ and wing Graham Linekar. By the time scrum half Hugh Wade-Jones darted over from a scrum close to the Vigo line, Park had comfortably cruised to a convincing win. Vigo crossed for a late consolation try but it wasn't enough to take the gloss off another fine Park House performance.
